Top 5 Things Real Estate Agents Should Do Everyday

May 4, 2016

Want success in your real estate business like those agents you see on TV? Get ready because I’m about to tell you the top 5 things you need to do on a daily basis. It’s not hard to achieve your real estate goals but it takes a good amount of discipline and perseverance. We have all heard the term “money doesn’t grow on trees”, well that’s especially true for running a real estate business. It is going to take hard work every single day. If you are ready for the challenge, I recommend you start with these 5 things and do them every single day.

1. Wake Up Early

The real estate business is extremely competitive. Thousands of people become agents every single day. Remember the day you took your real estate, classes? Everyone else in that classroom is now your competition. What better way to be competitive than waking up before your competition? According to NAR, there are approximately 86,004 real estate brokerage firms operating in the United States. Just imagine how many agents there are. We all share the same 24 hours in a day and it all comes down to how you use time. Waking up early allows you to get a head start on the day’s activities. Personally, I wake up no later than 5:30 every day. By 8:00 am, I’ve accomplished much more than the agent waking up at that time.

2. Meet Someone New

Having a large network is essential to having a thriving real estate business. Everyone you meet is a potential client. The only way to have clients though is to know people. You can make cold calls all day and night but getting inbound calls is the way to go.  A great way to meet people is attending events, becoming involved in your community, and even joining a charity. Every day is an opportunity to meet someone new. Don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation. When you meet someone, add them on Facebook or LinkedIn. It’s a sure way to keep in touch.

3. Drive Around a Neighborhood

As a real estate agent, you must know your markets. If you live in a big city, you need to make yourself familiar with the ins and outs of the city. You never know what your next client will need. Different clients are going to like different styles of homes and it’s your job to point them in the right direction. When you are driving in a neighborhood, you also want to take note of homes that are on the market. See which ones are new listings, homes that have gone under contract, and recent sales.

4. Post On Social Media

Social media is huge. Pretty much everyone you encounter will have a profile on one of the major social media networks. Consistently posting on your Facebook, Twitter, and even Instagram is a great way to attract new clients and get referrals. As you are driving around neighborhoods and studying the market, take photos and videos. People love to see an active real estate agent. There is always something you can post online regarding real estate. According to the National Association of Realtors, most buyers actually begin their home search on the internet. You can be the agent they reach out to when they are ready to purchase or sell their home.

5. Educate Yourself About Something

The real estate industry is ever changing. There is always something you can become knowledgeable about. Unless you are a know-it-all, there’s room for education. If you are part of a brokerage that offers classes, definitely attend them. If there is not a class on any particular day, read a book on any topic. I recommend educating yourself on topics such as; contracts, marketing, financing, people, and even becoming a better salesperson. The learning curve can be quite large for a new real estate agent. Over time, it will become easier and easier. The more knowledgeable you are, the more successful you can be.

In Conclusion

Practice these 5 things every single day for 21 days. Form it into a habit. As you do these things, you will find much success in the real estate business. I go more in-depth on a few of these things in my Agency Authority Mastery Course. In this course, agents become celebrities in real estate in only 2 months. You must be disciplined with everything you do in your real estate business. There can be many distractions day-to-day but be strong and enjoy your success.
